We now know that there is a direct relationship between where our attention is focused, what mental tasks we are performing and the resulting electro-chemical brainwave patterns. Differing mental processes such as problem solving, sleeping, dreaming and changing emotions produce different brainwave patterns.
These brainwave patterns change when we take conscious control of our attention and deepen as we consciously isolate our attention on any single focus. The term commonly assigned to consciously controlling where our attention is focused and the resulting brainwave activity is meditation.
It's benefits are many and varied. Meditation can boost your immune system, improve airflow for asthmatics, help manage chronic pain, lower cholesterol levels and dramatically speed healing. Many of these result come from a decrease in stress and anxiety, which is one of the primary results of meditation.
In addition to reduced stress and anxiety, the psychological benefits of meditation include increased self-esteem, better power of concentration, reduced irritability and reduced depression. There is also evidence that meditation may help increase creativity and even intelligence!

Underwater Meditation is like nothing you may have tried before, regarding meditation. It's a quantum leap jump, a step beyond the usual ways of meditation. It's the next logical step in the evolution of this ancient practice for inner growth and a calm of mind.
The reduced effect of gravity experienced underwater, combined with the feeling of total freedom this produces, trigger an old 'button'; dormant in the deepest corner of the mind.
Regardless of whether you are approaching meditation for the first time or you have made it a part of your daily life for a long time, taking this quiet time for self discovery under the water changes everything – even when you compare it to the traditional way of meditating.
Although most people can easily learn how to breathe underwater and there are only a few specific medical and physical conditions that limits the active participation, some safety considerations still have to be taken.
Scuba diving equipment must be used only by people trained in the correct and safe use of it. It is precisely because of this that, for now, Underwater Meditation can only be offered in our center in North Miami Beach, Florida. Here we are able to account for all the necessary elements to ensure secure and correct practice.
It is our commitment and intent to make this new & exciting form of meditation available to everyone everywhere. Since Underwater Meditation requires the use of scuba diving gear, we are certain it will one day be available through other institutions related with scuba diving and other centers and institutions with certified divers in their staff.
As this happens, we'll be updating the list of organizations offering underwater meditation, along with their respective locations, on our website and our blog.
We can add to these benefits the fact that by been done underwater, and because of the extra silence and
peaceful sensation, increases the feeling of connection and calmness. The silence experienced underwater help us to reach, keep and maintain the focus in our personal goals and objectives. But for this to be more effective it would be more appropriate to take it as a new acquired habit by repetition.
A research on the effects of meditation includes the National Institutes of Health, the University of Massachusetts and the Mind/Body Medical Institute at Harvard University. Some of these insights have emerged in the lab of Richard Davidson from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Davidson and his team observe Buddhist monks as they meditate while being scanned by MRI machines.
What the researchers see are brains unlike any they have observed elsewhere. The monks’ left prefrontal cortexes- the area associated with positive emotion- are far more active than in non-meditators brains. In other words, he explained, the monks’ meditation practice, which changes their neural physiology, enables them to respond with equanimity to sources of stress. Meditation doesn’t lobotomize meditators; it simply allows them to detach from their emotional reactions so they can respond appropriately” (Business Week Magazine; August 30; 2004). How do you think your life would be influenced, changed and have greater meaning if you knew what you were meant to be and do while you were here?
Would this be worth living?
How do you think your overall state of mind would be if your life had a bigger purpose than just going to a dead-end job every day-- a job that you only do in order to 'survive'?
But this awareness doesn't have to come through suffering. My life's purpose is to help YOU: to guide you to finding how to access that inner, most wise, all-knowing part of yourself; to assist you in fully accessing all that exists within you. While I can point you to the door, the choice to open it and walk through it is all yours. I cannot take that step for you.
This won't happen overnight. It can't.
This is a process. It would be too much for your mind to handle all at once- too much to grasp. It would be overwhelming. You will be putting all the pieces together one by one; as if it were a puzzle.
Be aware that there's nothing you 'have' to do.
If you are happy and well living your life as you presently are, that's perfectly fine too. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. You can continue living as you have been, and just use Underwater Meditation the same way you would use meditation in traditional settings.
When you truly find your life's purpose, your present reality will change!
It's just the natural result.
